I had to google your reference, Karla! I thought James and the Giant Peach at first. I'm assuming you mean Uncle Bawley and Leslie (Liz Taylor)? What a great name for the Uncle Bawley actor---Chill Wills! https://m.imdb.com/name/nm0932629/?ref_=m_ttfcd_cl6 Thanks for the education! I'll quiz my dad on this one.
And all this time I thought it was Uncle Billy..... thanks for the correction! It"s been years since I saw it. And yes, Liz Taylor who was 23 when she played a 50 year old character..... now I'll go Google James and the Giant Peach! Lol
What a peachy day all around, Karla! I certainly wasn't correcting you on Billy/Bawley--I had no idea about either! Interesting tidbit too about Liz playing a 50 year old at 23! I wonder who will play Mick Jagger's girlfriend? Mick is 81, she's 37!
Ordinarily I have tons of sparky remarks about old men with much younger women but not when it comes to Mick. I LUV Mick!! Guess he needs people who can keep up with him. OK, it's a double standard. Don't care. Greatest bad boy of all time. Sean Connery, too except I think he's dead. Either way, their testosterone just never quits! YUM !!
Karla, that is funny. I had to see if Sean Connery was still alive (nope, October 31, 2020). Glad Mick brings you such satisfaction. I have Keith Richards memoir Life in my to-read stack--not a crush but ya gotta love those guys for still working it.
Again, WAY too much to touch on here but...who goes to Lethbridge for a student exchange?? 🤣
I've been to the Ripleys aquarium in Toronto and it felt like magic to me. I've been to several aquariums in North America and Toronto BY FAR has the best one!!! I loved being in that maze below sea level ❤️❤️
Hi Kristi. Hey, I would have gone anywhere on a student exchange---I played on the ping pong team in high school as yet another legit reason to skip out of school for tourneys! It was part of the Canada 125 celebration---obviously Lethbridge ignited the spark to travel more! That's awesome to hear about Ripley's. The last aquarium Kim and I were in had a $1US admission fee. This was in Alexandria, Egypt---the tanks were murky and mostly lifeless. The strangest moment was when an Egyptian couple approached us and asked for our picture holding their baby! At the aquarium! Not too many places where you can do that for $1. Thanks for the birthday wishes, Kristi!
Hi Ingrid! I recently read this: "Avocado trees grown from seed may produce fruit after about 3 years, may take 12 years or more, or may not ever produce fruit." I guess I'm going to be the unreliable one when I commit to bringing guacamole to the party!
Haha! My mom used to say that you should never plant an avocado tree in your yard because when it bears fruit you'll move... which thinking about it now, kind of doesn't make a lot of sense. If that were the case avocado tree owners would constantly be moving 😅 unless of course you moved into a house which already had an avocado tree that was bearing fruit.
Oh, the things mothers tell us! My mom insisted that we would get worms from dipping half-cooked spaghetti noodles into the simmering sauce. As the noodles boiled and stood half out of the pot, my siblings and I would pull them out and eat them half cooked, dip them and crunch on the 'raw' noodles. There are no avocados in our growing zone but I'm sure there's a similar regional concept! Thanks for sharing and I'll keep this in mind for future moves!
Happy, happy 50th, Jules! Long may you laugh (and make everyone who reads you guffaw too) and enjoy your travels, enduring love and a great home to return to. Bon Vivant R U!
Caroline, thanks for the sparkly wishes. I'll take bon vivant! Instead of boho, I'll roll with bovi. Though people make think I'm on some high-strung bovine-only diet! Always lovely to see you here.
Thanks, Jenna! My brain went to: How to you carve a mushroom to look like a radish? I looked up a tutorial---those are super Smurfy cute! Thanks for that idea! They could be served with magic mushrooms, haha. I hope to see your to-list one day!
Jenna, I tried carving those radish mushrooms last night--because isn't that what everyone should be doing the night before packing for Madagascar? Sending you a photo as proof. So fun! Thanks for that hot radish tip!
As Uncle Billy said to Leslie in Giant...
"50 is a nice age".
Happy Birthday!!

Let me know if the avo-sprouting works. I’ve tried too, but…

This is the best to-do list ever. My favorites are to paddle those poison-ivy infested waters and to make radish roses.
Also, have you seen radish-mushrooms? Where radish roses are fancy, radish mushrooms are just plain cute.
Happy birthday.
